as promised...

the houston trip was totally needed. it was sunny and 90 degrees the whole time. i was only there for three days, but at least it got me away from a few things. i hung out by the pool, got a manicure, pedicure, and a facial and saw how awful i am at golf (i have a nice blister to prove it). friday night, my dad, step-mom and i hung with the harley riders they meet up with every friday. we all went to a thai/sushi restaurant that they wanted to try. this group is a wild one. not like 'hells angels' wild, but more like 'ceo during the week, so i get crazy on the weekends' wild. so we're at this restaurant, and as the waitress is taking orders, one guy says "i'll have the seabass and a happy ending, please". i nearly fell over. i mean, who says that? the waitress didn't look too pleased. it could also be due to the fact that one of the guys went behind the bar and served himself (a beer, not a happy ending). after dinner, the group decided that we needed to go to a biker bar (mostly because they all knew i had never been). "lucky, me", i thought. the biker bar was interesting. people still smoke in bars in houston, so the atmosphere was that not unlike one of a typical college bar: cement floor, smoky fog, crap band playing crap music, and a few too drunk girls swaying about on the dance floor spilling beer and calling it dancing. oh, and the bartender was a leathery lady in black jeans and a crop top sporting feathered bangs and many tattoos. needless to say, it was awesome! different, but cool in its own respect.

i think i got food poisoning from the thai/sushi place, so i don't think i will be going back there. other than that stuff, the houston trip was about family time. i needed to have a little talk with my dad about some stuff. i had the talk and am glad that i have his and my step-mom's support. i was actually really nervous to talk to him about it (sorry, can't talk about it here), in fact, i was shaking, but he proved to be the good dad i know he is. all i had to say was "i need to tell you something" (and of course i broke down into tears) and he pulled me into a hug and told me that whatever it was it would be ok. good, good dad. i feel like if i had been coming out of the closet or something, he would've been ok with it. i don't know if many people could say that.

i had a dream about a friend the other night and i don't think i've ever seen someone's face as vividly as i did this person's. the sucky part was that in the dream, i ended up playing games to get attention from this friend. i woke up in a sour mood mulling over whether or not i've always been the one to start the game playing. interesting... the funny part though was that i woke up with my hand to my ear trying to call suz. i apparently call her in my sleep now too :)

i've been quite busy with work and other activities lately. my trainer is still kicking my butt twice a week, but i'm loving it. i'm starting a new thing tomorrow night that i guess you could call a class of sorts. i'll fill you in more after i know more details and how much i want to reveal. (insert evil laugh: mu ha ha.) i'm trying to get myself into some better state of equipoise, so we'll see how it goes. i mean, i've been focused on me for many months now, so i really don't know how much more i can take of it. i'm a giver. i need to find something or someone to use my energy up on. been thinking a lot about volunteering at a hospital in the area. we'll see.

going camping in maine this weekend with friends. should be fun. can't wait to get into a bit of nature and unwind. evan has made me promises of root beer and brandy to cure my woes :)

p.s. i know i have a couple new readers out there, so please feel welcome to comment about whatever anytime you want. that goes for everyone else too.
