custodial creepiness

a few posts ago i mentioned that one of the maintenance guys at my apartment building is somewhat stalker-esque. well... it hasn't gotten any better yet.

let's start with the events of a few weeks ago. it was morning and mr. creepy (as i will now refer to him) was taking the trash out of the building. he must've had a lot to take out because he kept going in and out and in and out. this process makes him walk by one of my windows. so i stopped and watched him for a second far enough away from the open window (with the blinds down) that he wouldn't be able to tell i was standing there. i watched him carry one bag out and then come back in and get one bag. if he had so much to carry out, why not carry more than one at a time?? that was the first thing that struck me as odd. i looked out the peep hole on my door, and every time he walked by my door, he stared at it. everytime! then i watched him walk outside and put another single bag of trash down then walk closer to the window and do a little 'oh, let me see if my shoe is untied' bend and tried to look into my window from behind a car. this pissed me off. it is one thing to be creepy, but it is another to be crossing-the-line creepy. it was hard to leave my apartment that morning because he was constantly outside my door.

then, on friday, i left work a little early so that i could run a few errands. by about 5 o'clock, i ended up being home, standing in the middle of my apartment caught in some television-induced trance when i heard the two maintenance guys come out the back door (one isn't nearly as creepy). i watch and see that mr.creepy has walked past my windows and into the corner of where the building meets a brick wall. this is literally right next to my window. there is NO reason that he needed to stand there. i knew it was creepy time. luckily, i was fully dressed and i was prepared for him. i watched him move directly in front of my window, squat down holding onto the window sill and peer in. that's right. he was just sitting there looking in my window. the television was on, so he obviously knew i was home. i was standing in the middle of the room waiting for him to realize that i was right there, but he didn't seem to care one bit. i looked directly at him and he continued to just squat there looking in. luckily, after about an eternity (probably only like 2 minutes) him and the other guy piled into their van and left. i was livid. i wanted to walk over to the window and say something, but didn't know what to say and was afraid that if i anger him, it will just get worse. i mean, the guy has keys to my apartment for crying out loud.

if this keeps up, i am going to have to say something to my landlord about it.... or i could just move. anyways, i figured i should tell ya'll about this guy in case i end up dead in my apartment or something. unlikely, but you never know. in the meantime, i am going to start setting up booby traps (goonies style) to see if he comes into my apartment without notifying me first as i suspect he has been (the blinds keep getting opened a little bit more than i would like).

and that my friends is the story of mr.creepy. i will let you know if anything else happens.
