here's what's been happening...
my good friend, laura was in an accident the other day at work. she is ok. she was in an elevator when a cable broke causing the elevator to fall approx 20 floors in a matter of seconds. luckily, after a moment of shock, laura hit the red button and it slowed the elevator to a stop. she was pretty shaken up and suffers from whiplash, but i think i speak for us all when i say that i am just glad that she is ok. it is stories like this that make me thankful for the slower-than-heck hydraulic elevator that is at my work. laura dear, i wish you a speedy recovery.
my pops got assigned a huge global project at his work. he anticipates having to travel to 24 countries before its completion. well, seeing an opportunity has never really been a weakness of mine, so i jumped on this; my pops and i are planning to have a little father-daughter travel time in the future. i am psyched. i get along with him very well and can't wait to travel a bit!
in a recent post, i think i mentioned a new, unusually young neighbor in my building. unusually young being mid-twenties when most of the building is around 35+. that is, except for yours truly, an obvious over-achiever. ;) sorry - got a little sidetracked there... ah yes, the neighbor. he knocked on my apartment door to ask for change for a dollar. i hoard quarters for laundry purposes and generally don't let any out of my sight, but i made an exception due to the fact that he is a new neighbor reaching out in hopes that i would be a nice person. i was. he invited me up to his place to hang later too. yay! i have a cool neighbor. too bad i greeted him in next to nothing. my bum was hanging out!
last on today's agenda is my pahty. that's right, 'pahty'. leave your r's at home, kids; the suburbs are calling your name. my birthday bash at my madre's casa de chaos is tomorrow. i am looking forward to it more than i thought i would. the idea of presents has left a tingling of anticipation in my veins that only a game of badminton followed up by some scrumptious home-cooking will cure. it will be great to see all who make the trek out to my hometown.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I am okay. I survived the crash! I am a little worse for the wear (quite sore at times), but okay nonetheless.
Jen, thanks for your concern.
