the big 2-5

today is it. i am officially 25. wow.

my day started off a tad rocky...
as i was getting ready for work, my friends and family were calling to wish me well on my birthday. little did they know that they were delaying me from getting to work. that said, i decided to straighten my hair despite the lack of time and high humidity (my hair is naturally curly and humidity is the enemy). needless to say, my hair was a tad frizzy this morning and it was too hot in my apartment to fuss with it. i decided to dress up a little and wear a nice white button-down shirt. so i put it on and then i am fiddling with this super-cool necklace i had bought in NYC when i suddenly notice a dark stain all over the armpit of the shirt. i think "great, now what have i managed to spill on myself" then i think "wait, is that blood?!" i take off the shirt and glance at the inside of the stain - it is everywhere. i must have cut myself while shaving my underarms (i'm not french, you know). great. so i switch shirts and patch myself up with what looks like a war bandage because it appears it is the only bandaid-like item i have left in my house. i start my usually 5-minute commute to work to find that there is a lot of traffic today. it took almost 30 minutes to go a little over a mile.

however, once i got to work...
things picked up a bit. i walked to my office to find it decorated with pink streamers (looked kind of like a fort for a princess). i liked that a lot. i still have not figured out who put the streamers there, but i think it was R and M. next, i see a gorgeous bouquet of flowers. i know by looking at them which florist they came from (my favorite) and exactly who they are from (my ex). after reading a sort-of awkward sentimental note, i decided to open my Outlook (email program, for those who don't use it) to get started on my day.
i am the administrator on the webservers at my work. it is this fact, that makes it so that i get alerted anytime something goes wrong on one of our webpages. upon opening Outlook, i notice a whole lot of email error messages from E. it took almost an hour and a half to open the program because of the amount of errors this boy got. 167 birthday wishes as i am now referring to them.
the admins at work bought me some chocolates from an amazing specialty shop in harvard square. my usually lackadaisical department managed to throw me a surprise birthday party with a cake and all without my finding out about it beforehand. i figured they'd just ask me to buy a card and have everyone sign it for myself. :) i had a yummy lunch at work with a bunch of friends. got a great and thoughtful gift from a special someone that made me smile for hours.
now, i am home preparing for a dinner out and then drinks with friends to celebrate both E and my birthdays (his was saturday). should be fun. i'll let you know how it ends up.
