the stories that i don't really tell anyone...

when i was a kid, i decided to try to be a girl scout. my best friend was doing it, but she was a year older, so was in a different troop (is that even what they are called?). without my faithful companion, i had to try and make new friends. and i did, as far as i remember. anyways, the entire premise of attaining goals and earning badges was beyond me. heck, i couldn't even figure out why i needed a mess kit (in fact, it took me a while to understand what a mess kit was in the first place)! when we finally went on the little trip to girl scout camp, i finally realized that i was a terrible girl scout. i'm not sure what happened, but i recall wandering through the woods trying to figure out what activity group i was supposed to be in, too shy and embarrassed at my own retardation to ask anyone. so, while all the other girls scouts were probably learning to tie some knot that could have been the knot that could save my life someday (who freakin' knows, ya know?), i was hiding out in the bushes around camp. in fact, the only thing i remember accomplishing during that trip was learning how to make shaggy dogs (like a s'more, but a little different).

leave it to me to only remember the junk food :)
