it's official: i'm an adult
today, it occurred to me that i have a new habit. as i've mentioned before, i change quite a bit when i focus on myself, and focused i am these days. what else is there? plus, i am a firm believer in change and its necessity for bringing out other facets of one's personality. the latest change may not seem like much to most people, but if you had seen how i was about this particular thing last year even, you'd be astonished to see me now. ok, the crescendo of suspense is over.... the latest change simply put is that i find myself at the grocery store at least twice a week (it was 3 times last week) and i cook every night. always fresh produce; no mac & cheese or pasta for this girl anymore. just to compare, pre-2006, i probably only bought groceries about 15 times and probably only made dinner in my apartment a handful or two times. i just didn't eat here or if i did, it was take out.
so, i guess 2006 has been healthier in that aspect. mentally, i'm still pretty fucked ;)
i feel like i am actually getting my act together financially these days too. being a bit more responsible about my shopping habits (at least this month) and thinking about the future much more. you know: the retirement plans, the life insurance, stock portfolios, and real estate. all seem to be working out pretty well so far. i may be closing on an investment property in a few weeks if all goes well. i guess this all means i'm becoming an adult. scary.
not to worry though, i am still an immature goof 98% of the time. i make mistakes all the time, and i can't seem to motivate myself to do laundry more than once every two months (did i mention i have a lot of clothes?). the other day, i tried to make this totally awesome garlic soup that an acquaintance used to make and ended up with tomato sauce instead. i think i forgot to add water or something. that's me for you... as if you didn't already know.
