take a different flight

had brunch with laura and suz today. went to a newer little place where the service was awful, but the rosemary french fries were addictive. now, i am not one to ever really criticize a server (i was a terrible one for two months once), but this one was really bad. the highlight was when he spilt an entire glass of orange juice on suz and practically poured it into her purse. you'd think you'd get something comped for that, but no. not that we really put up a fuss though - it happens. was nice to catch up in person with laura about life in NYC.

after brunch, i wandered around back bay for a bit, then decided to buy a few more canvases to paint but when i got to the end of newbury, the store was closed. bummer. so i wandered into a newer women's clothing store and was a tad overwhelmed. i don't know about anybody else, but i know that the fashion trends right now are challenging me. who has the time to figure out how to layer all these clothes on top of each other so strategically? -- nevermind that -- who has time to wash all these extra layers you're wearing everyday? hmm? not me. so, feeling a little disappointed, i headed to urban outfitters where i knew i would find something i'd want to buy.

urban outfitters was a chaotic, college-filled playground for the wealthy BU kids. luckily, i was saved by mike who called and asked if i'd grab a coffee with him. i couldn't bear another minute in there - i couldn't even hear myself shop!

sipped my second... wait, make that 3rd coffee (decaf of course, people) of the day sitting on a bench with mike. we chatted, then i brought him up to the roof deck because he'd never seen it. was a nice day. kept having these intense cravings though. my craving was not for the popular ice cream, chocolate, or something salty. mine was for a haircut. i couldn't contain it, so i walked in a salon i've never been to before, and had a stranger cut my hair. i'm sure she thought i was crazy, because i told her that i would try not to freak out at the thought of someone new cutting my hair (been to the same guy for 10 years now). it came out pretty good i think. suz liked it when i showed up to her place for dinner.

ahh yes dinner : suz, her bf, and her brother invited me over to make pizzas and then go to the movies. was fun. i always have a lot of fun with suz. she's awesome. the movie however, i do not recommend. saw flightplan and it is supposed to be some kind of a thriller, right? i wouldn't call it a thriller when the entire audience is laughing at the times when it is supposed to be serious, would you? i won't spoil the movie, in case any of you were really geared up for seeing it, but there is a twist and when that twist is unveiled, instead of having the feeling of shock or being dumfounded by it, you just kind of shrug a lackluster 'oh' and check your watch to see how much longer you think it will drag on for. sad, eh?
