chick flick weekend

i had an OK weekend. there are many things that could've made it better, namely one, but i still survived it just the same.

on thursday, my friend hank called to cheer me up by telling me funny stories about his kids. i especially liked the one where a child's mom started yelling "fuck it, gabe, just fuck it" at her probably 11 year old because he wasn't allowed to sleep over a friend's house. made me laugh. thanks hank. suz and i then sat down with some ice cream, had a little bitchfest, and i filled her in on what was happening on the O.C. work-stress was very high for both of us that night.

on friday, one of my only saving graces was the fact that my boss stood up for me (finally) in an email to one of his peers that seems to like to terrorize me. suz and i went to the movies to celebrate. this was day one of my chick flick weekend. (saw just like heaven: which was very cute)

saturday: my attempt at sleeping in for once in i can't remember how long failed miserably. i can't sleep much at all lately, and when i can, i have nightmares. i feel like i am 10 years old again. later, after buying myself some more yarn for my new obsessive hobby, i headed over to mike and beth's (sans mike) for a girls night. we watched another chick flick and had some ice cream. there seems to be a theme here, no? it was a fun night overall, minus the point where i looked up in conversation to see both sarah and beth looking very concerned for me. scared me a little.

sunday: my second attempt to sleep in also was fruitless. i woke up somewhere between 8 and 8:30 and stubbornly kept my head under the covers until about 10 just trying to regain some part of my sleep regimen back. eventually, i got up and headed to breakfast with suz (who by the way, is my savior lately - without her to listen to me, i would probably be a much darker person). i went on a bit of a shopping spree enhancing my mood with a little retail therapy. got an amazing pair of caramel colored knee-boots that are BEAUTIFUL. as i have learned though, this doesn't really make me all that happy for more than a couple of days tops. i then worked from home for a while and called it a night. oh, i almost forgot the part about my watching another chick flick. i bought fever pitch and can honestly say, i didn't think it was that great. i did like seeing beantown in the background though.

i guess this weekend was somewhat of an improvement, but a very small step to say the least. i had been watching scary movies because they generally don't involve any emotion but fear, but i faced it a bit with some girly movies. not sure that helped me very much to see all these predictable happy endings and lovey-dovey peoplee, but whatever.
