to-dos, total completion, and jelly
i'm a list person. i write to-do lists every day for various reasons, and for every aspect of my life. i'm not so much a post-it person, as they all stick together if you have multiple lists going on at the same time (which i tend to) and that just annoys me. this brings me to what is at the top of my brain this week:
i don't know if it was the recent birthday or just the events of the last few months, but i'm at a point right now where i can feel all of these things that i have been saving up on my mental life-to-do list weighing down on me, forcing me to take some kind of action. 'what have i been waiting for?', i ask myself constantly. i know what has kept me from taking action in the past, but i can't believe i've let those things keep me from my own goals and objectives. thinking that i let outside forces drive me in a direction that i wasn't really aiming for frustrates me. anyways, i've decided to take some action and get off my lazy bum and do some of the things that i have been wanting to do. i know this all sounds a little convoluted, but bear with me. i'll unveil my to-dos as they play out a bit more.
on another note, altogether, might i just point out a positive about walking to work. well, if you strategically map your route past a bakery (as i do), and said bakery has a tendency to pass out free samples of delicious pastries, well.... need i say more?? if only they'd pass out free samples of coffee, my morning would be complete. i could literally mimic the overly-used 'you complete me' expression to the man passing out samples. IF, that is, they'd give me some coffee as well :)
and another random tangent...
i realized today that i can finally eat strawberry jelly in my peanut butter and jelly sandwich without cringing. thanks to my mom, it has taken me many years to get to this point. you see, we didn't have a whole lot of money in my family. my mom, she didn't buy any of that frivolous children's tylenol when we had a headache or cold or anything... we only had the very basic white caplets that taste disgusting. so, when we needed a tylenol, she would crush it up between two spoons, creating chunky white bits and then mix it into a spoonful of strawberry jelly for us to eat. let me just tell you, eating strawberry jelly mixed with chunky tylenol is not pleasant and i do not recommend it. ever. ever. ever! ugh.
