what the heck

i had what i'd like to think must be an every day occurrence for someone like Paris Hilton, Britney Spears or maybe even Perez Hilton at this point. it certainly is not an every day thing for me. i mean, i'd like to think i am your typical computer programmer; sometimes a bit socially awkward, but you get me talking on the right subject and my mouth moves a mile a minute, eyes wide like a kit-cat clock darting side-to-side. all i mean to say is, i'm not one of those girls that walks down the street with grace and elegance - i'm generally on a mission. you get the point...

this brings me to this morning's creepy little oddity. there i was, making my way to work; dressed in my typical walking outfit of late: jeans and a tank top, hauling an over-sized shoulder bag that H&M brands as a "purse", perspiration on my brow from the humidity and fast pace. i generally don't pay any mind to the other commuters and every day street people on my way to work. i am focused on getting there and nothing else. today was no different. as i was walking, i looked up suddenly to realize that the person on the sidewalk in front of me was not, in fact, walking, but instead turned facing me with a camera phone in hand. just then, he says 'wait, wait, hold on right there' as he positions his phone to take a photo. i swerve to the left (his right) to try and avoid being photographed, and say 'no thanks'. he proceeds to swing the camera phone around, snap a photo and then ask me if i want to see it. i walk faster and say 'no thank you', wondering what the hell would cause someone to take a photo of me like that. very, very odd and even more creepy. and as is that wasn't unsettling enough, after telling the story to a coworker when i did finally get to work, they suggested that the guy probably took the photo into a men's room somewhere shortly after taking it. i think i just threw up in mouth a little.
