only me....

i don't know where i get these bright ideas, but let me tell you -- they aren't really all that bright at all. in fact, more often than not, they turn out to be no more than dismally lackluster.

so, last night, i decided to dye my hair from its original platinum status to the darkest brown possible. in fact, it's called espresso - that ought to give you an idea of what i'm talking about. well, i followed all the instructions, etc.. and now my hair is a beautiful dark brown at the roots and a diane-keaton-esque or maybe cruela deville-esque black/gray combination. it's really attractive ;) actually it looks ok wet in my opinion... only because it looks black and the gray doesn't really show.

i was going to just re-dye it again tonight with the same color and let it sit for another 25 minutes thinking that i just didn't let it sit on my hair long enough. i smartly called the hair color hotline for the product and spoke to a most-knowledgeable lady instead. she told me that because i had bleached my hair before, my natural pigments weren't there to help the dye look right. so, the corrective action needed to make my hair look normal again (but brown) is to wash it a zillion times with shampoo that is not for color treated hair. then, once the gray color is gone and the platinum blonde color starts coming through again (let me tell you-- i am really looking forward to the awkward looks i am going to get in this stage of the process!) i can dye it again, but this time i have to use two different dyes and mix them together. lucky for me, the smart hotline lady told me exactly what i need and how much to use and everything. we'll see how it turns out. i would post a photo, but i'm afraid halloween isn't for a few more weeks. ;)
