ninja moves, segal, and a little catch-up

when i got to work, having walked the 2.2 mile commute to work in workout clothes, i realized that I forgot a pair of normal pants to wear for the rest of the day.  oops.  so, i am now sitting at my desk in a black fitted long-sleeve sweater and black workout pants.  i look like a ninja!

it's not only me who thinks that. i walked up to a coworker's office and another one of my coworkers was in there. he said "whoa, i thought you were a ninja. i thought i was about to get attacked." i nearly fell over laughing because he had no idea that i was thinking along the same lines.

it also occurred to me that i could look like a young steven segal. dressed in all black, hair pulled back, and wearing flip-flops. all i need is the leathery skin and a few good (bad and slow) moves. :)

btw, it's been over a month now without my dear, dear Otis. It hasn't been as bad as i thought it would be actually. i had imagined myself in the vespa store on day 2, but i've managed to convince myself that i don't really need a vespa either. i've been inclined to walk a lot lately and when i don't feel up to it, i just T it. it's going well, all in all.

this week was a little crazy.... and i mean, crazy as in unusual.
monday, i called in sick to work. i felt like crap and decided that a day on the couch and some extra sleep would help me feel better.

tuesday, i walked to work from my man's house. on my way, i stopped at whole foods to get some tamari almonds and some mixed fruit. i had a craving for some fresh fruit for breakfast. i got to work and ate the fruit (pineapple, kiwi, papaya). well, my mouth started getting all itchy, my tongue was itchy, even the insides of my ears were itchy! i stopped eating and drank a bunch of water. after looking up food allergy symptoms on webmd, of course. my stomach started killing, so i went home and slept for like 4 hours.

wednesday, i was in a crappy mood. not so much during the day (even though i did have to manually open 500 resumes and manually convert 180 of them to pdf format snf then save them back in a database individually... not a fun task), but by the time i got to the gym, my patience was low and i didn't feel like doing much. i worked out with my man and went home.

thursday, i walked to work for the first time. it felt great and i did it in under 30 minutes. i organized a group lunch at work, so we all had yummy indian buffet in harvard square and some coffee from pete's to wash it all down. i went to the gym to do shoulders, back and abs and in the middle of my workout got up for a drink at the bubbler (water fountain... duh?). when i got back to the bench i was working on, a person stole one of my 15 lb weights. i looked around and the only person using 15's was a guy. pussy, i thought to myself. there weren't any more 15's, or 20's for that matter, so i decided to just say fuck it, and show the retard what i can do. i grabbed the 25's and used them for shoulder presses instead. :) the rage helped.

friday, ahh... here we are. well, you already know most of my story, now don't you. all that's left is the story about the cafeteria lady that i love. i eat a lot of salads, for those of you who don't know. at work, we have a salad bar, and i am a slave to it every day when the pangs of hunger start attacking my belly. well, i also like grilled chicken on my salad (nice, lean protein). to get that though, i have to go in the regular sandwich line and have the lady cut it up for me. Because I'm boring and do this little food routine every day, the lady at the counter just cuts it up and puts it on a plate for me as soon as she sees me (with a side of the sweet pickles i like). no words exchanged but a simple 'thank you' when she hands me the plate. the point of this story is that when she saw me today, she said "here comes the chicken lady" to the crowd of people waiting for their food. i just smiled and nodded.

i have another wedding this weekend. this one will have some of the old work crew in attendence, so should be fun. oh, and it's at a castle! i can't wait to see it.

By Indian buffet, do you mean Tanjore? Oh, god. My mouth just started watering. No satisfaction to be had. :(
