cookie hangover
i was sitting here at work just now trying to describe to a coworker what i was feeling. it's a cookie hangover. i've never experienced such an intensely bad feeling from sugar before. forget the fact that i had 4 cookies right after rolling out of bed this morning and let's focus on the events of this afternoon. you see, today, was my group's annual cookie swap. everybody makes about 3 dozen cookies and we all get to take home a couple from each person. that makes it so that i have about 30 cookies in a basket by the end of it. but it doesn't stop there you see... we all gather around the platters of cookies, eating them and chatting about nonsense for an hour (last year we got drunk while doing this, so this year someone 'accidentally' forgot to spike the eggnog). well, during that time, i must have eaten at least a dozen cookies. no exaggeration, i swear. even when my stomach started to whimper about the crap i was loading into it, i told it to stop being a pussy and suck it up (ok, so really that is all in my mind, but i find it pretty funny just the same), and i ate more. finally, i could feel my body shaking and the warm feeling of the sugar racing through my veins. if you've ever been hooked up to an IV of a simple sugar solution after not eating for 24 hours, you know the feeling. your entire body feels restless and like it can't deal. that's where i am right now. it's been almost 3 hours, and i am still hungover from too many cookies, delicious as they were.
do you think that cookie monster ever had to deal with cookie hangovers or do you think his tolerance was just so high that it never really got to him? i wonder if they had to give him 'hits' of cookies in between takes just to keep him going? :)
