life of a turducken
some of the funniest stories happen by accident...
saturday, i went to my mom's house for a birthday dinner for my step-dad. it was a yummy roast beef dinner. we all completely stuffed ourselves and then sat in the living room talking. my mom and little brother were telling me about how they were watching paula dean on television earlier that day.
side note:
if you don't know who paula dean is, she's one of the food network folks. paula dean cooks enormous amounts of high-fat foods (heavy cream is pretty much an ingredient in every recipe, i swear).
in the episode they saw, paula was making a turducken (sp?). although i have never had the chance to see a turducken in person, i know that it is a boneless turkey, stuffed with a boneless duck, stuffed with a boneless chicken, then stuffed with sausage. a real meat fest. as we were telling my step-dad what a turducken was, my little brother turns to my mom and i and says (in all seriousness) "are they raised boneless?". i haven't laughed so hard in a long time. once he said it i think he realized what he had asked, but it was too late. you can't go and take something like that back. it's out there forever now. too funny to let go.
he did attempt to cover by saying he didn't know if they were just tube-fed in a corner somewhere. that just made it even funnier.
