full of regrets
another weekend, another weekend update for you... i think i am becoming a little too predictable, eh? ah well, i'm a creature of habit and i know it. i'll see if i can't be a little more spontaneous with y'all.
this weekend was full of regrets. regrets in the sense of rsvp's, that is. friday after work, i had an appointment with my trainer, and because my knee has been hurting me lately, we couldn't really do any heavy lifting. that kind of bummed me out, because i really like pushing my limits. lunges without any weight (high reps) isn't really pushing my limits. i'm hoping he'll let me do more today when i go.
regret #1: after the gym, i was supposed to go to a 'surprise' birthday party for my good pal, hank. he's the one who invited me though, so i don't really think it was a surprise. :) after the gym, and the close of a long week of work (launched another application at work), i couldn't bear to leave my house. it stinks, because i really would've loved to see hank. plus, he has a hot tub.
saturday, because i'm a moron, i had to get up and move my car at 8am. stupid metered parking. at least it got me out of bed though. i ended up getting some coffee and a muffin and sitting outside watching the morning dog walkers and early morning runners go by. that is one of my favorite morning pastimes, when i can actually get out of bed, that is. after that, i went to the gym, made myself some lunch and then laid out on my roof deck for a few hours soaking up what little sun the season has left to offer me. that will probably be the last time i get to do that this year. i'm kind of sad that summer has passed so quickly. it isn't even lingering and slowly dissipating into a crisp fall; it's just gone like it fell through a trap door and is locked away for another 10 months. fall is definitely here. it was like 55 degrees out this morning. brrrr.... i think my system might be in shock by the time i get to costa rica.
regret #2: saturday night, i was supposed to go to a house warming party for a co-worker. still not feeling great, i decided to bail on it. after talking to my coworker today, it sounds like the party was awesome. sorry, i couldn't make it, but my health needs to take a priority lately.
sunday, i slept in until noon. i haven't done that in a while, and it felt good... until my body realized it hadn't had any caffeine yet. i threw on some clothes and went and grabbed a coffee (one of these days i'm going to learn how to use that espresso machine i have... such a good gift). i then embarked on another one of my little crafty projects. not worth diving into details (because it really wouldn't interest you), but it kept me busy for a few hours. i then, challenged myself by going into a world that i am trying desperately not to let overcome me. the retail world. (i'm so dramatic :) i've been trying not to buy things just to buy them. the easiest way to follow through on that plan, is to not go into stores in the first place. well, i needed to return something at victoria's secret, so i went in and remained unphased by the colorful panties and lingerie that i would usually already be finding my size in. i managed to return the item and leave without buying anything. i was quite proud. i then went to sephora (another weakness of mine) and even after perusing the many aisles of shimmery, glossy, fun things, i left with the only thing i really needed: some new mascara. i even managed to make it out of CVS with just the medicine i need lately to get me through the day. that's nearly impossible most days! it was a good will power day, all in all.
regret #3: i was invited to another party that i didn't go to. it was a baptism/party for another co-worker's son. again, i couldn't bother to leave my house. no energy really. plus, with my knee bothering me and my car being a manual transmission, all that shifting isn't really helping my knee feel any better.
i could not for the life of me, sleep last night! tossed and turned and tossed and turned for hours. i'd get a couple of winks here and there, but nothing all that momentous. lots of stuff going on in my head i guess. couldn't shut myself up :)
as a complete side note, but related to a recent post:
you know how i mentioned my dad's tendency to jump to the more severe illnesses when i tell him i'm not feeling well? well, i talked to him this weekend and he asked if i was feeling any better, to which i replied "not really". he then proceeded to start telling me that they found a new strain of tuberculosis circulating around and that i should be checked out. i tried my best not to actually bust out laughing, knowing he means well.
at least it's monday. new week = new goals.
