it's friday

i am SO happy it is friday. i went out last night after bible study for a few drinks. yes, bible study. i don't think i've really mentioned my latest hobby yet, so let me explain. an old friend of mine started a 20-somethings get together at her house once a week. we are working through one of the workbooks of the purpose-driven life and answering questions, blah blah blah.

a little background:
i have never been a religious person. i was never baptised, never went to church except for the occassional wedding, and even went so far as to lie to a nun to get into a CCD class with a friend when i was a kid (i wanted to see what all the fuss was about). the thing is, i am a very scientifically minded person. it's hard not to be when you learned the theory of evolution before learning about adam and eve. in fact, it's only through conversations with friends and television that i know anything at all about religion.

with that in mind, when my old friend let me know about the group, i decided to just try it. it's something different, right? when else am i going to learn what the other 84% of the world's population believes in? i'm still not sure i'm going to come out of the study with anything more than a little more knowledge and a few new friends, but that's oke with me. i am only looking at the ideals and values reinforced by religion and seeing which, if any, i can take into my own lifestyle.

so that's it with the bible study thing. in other news, i was telling my boss how excited i was to get the 'purple rain' soundtrack for a mere $8 the other day (i also got a CD by 'the clash'. be proud, reckless, be very proud). my boss gave me a raised eyebrow, shook his head, and told me that his wife went to the prince concert last year. excitedly, i nodded that i was there too and that i had bought the tickets as a surprise for a boyfriend. he then proceeded to make fun of my and my purple-rain-induced joy. the ambulance pulled his body off the cool wet pavement while i watched through a rain-covered car window. the carnival-like blue and red flashing lights circling the air, seeming to congratulate me on my victory.
did i mention i am psycho? i think i should write a book.

ahhh.. what else is going on... the training is going super (make sure you say 'super' with a cheerleader-like enthusiasm). the other day, i was doing lunges with my 20 pound free weights and he says "ok. 20. go."
me: "20?!?"
him: "ok. 25."
me: "what?"
him: "just kidding. i'm so mean."
i giggled and made a mental note not to question him again.

it turns out that i've lost 2% body fat so far. :)
