family values

what could be more entertaining than having one of my brothers stay with me for a night? well, i'll tell ya... having two brothers stay with me.

so, if you're new to my blog or just still don't understand the semi-convoluted family tree that i have come to exist in, i'll just summarize it all by saying that two of my four brothers (that's counting the one that was recently cut out of the wills... though no one really counts him) came to boston to stay with me for a night. one of them, my step-brother, is easy to handle. he's generally pretty laid-back and mature. the other one, has a tendency to be a handful (as said before). the good news is that this little family gathering didn't involve any morphine abuse . i'm not sure i've told that story here (the one about the morphine), but i think you can just understand that there's drama (as you'd expect).

the boys drove into the city last night to stay with me. now, i haven't really been out in a while, so i didn't know where to take them. we started off by just getting a slice of pizza at a local place, then began on our quest for shatteredville. i tried to pick some different places that they've never been to and would probably like. we went to lir, vox, saint, solas, whiskeys, and daisy b's. i'd say we were successful in our quest. although, technically, we didn't get into saint... much to my dismay. one of the boys had sneakers on and the other had timberland workboots on. both of which are frowned upon at saint. i tried to work my magic with the bouncer that i dated, but he didn't budge. i think we had the most fun at whiskeys though. one of the boys got in a photo with a bachelorette party, we did tequila shots, and when my tempermental little bro started to have a hissy-fit, i squeezed his cheeks together and made him say peanut butter until he laughed it off. rather effective method if i do say so myself. :)

the drama didn't really unfold until daisy's (as it is known to do). we were getting on fine until normally laid-back bro lost his wallet. losing a wallet in a crowded bar is just one of those things that can set anyone off. i can't blame him. i did the good bib sis thing and drunkenly wanderedaround asking if anyone had seen it. i checked with all the bartenders and waitstaff, but i came up empty-handed. we drank a little more and then decided to wander around to see if we could find it again. just then, one of the bar staff came up to me and asked what my brother's name was. they found his wallet! finally, he was happy again. it was then that i realized i had lost my jacket (we're a clumsy bunch). at that point though, i didn't really care all that much. i looked around a while, checked a 'crevice' as i was told by one patron, and gave up pretty quickly. the boys wanted to go. i told them i'd wrap up my conversation with crevice-man and meet them outside in two minutes. temper-tantrums ensued. i looked outside to see one of them under an umbrella mouthing for me to get my ass outside. i did.

as i walked home jacketless and drenched, looking at my two brothers with their stolen umbrellas and doing my best to calm the fits of rage the little one gets, i was suddenly aware of how drunk i was. we got in the house and the mood was lightened. little bro turns to me after about 10 minutes of us singing and laughing and says "go fucking wash your face. you look like fucking alice cooper." i looked in the mirror and it was true. i looked awful. i washed up, made them pb & j to absorb some of the booze and hopped into bed.

ahhh, family. at least this was a mildy dramatic evening. there have been much crazier ones. i can deal with these type much easier.
