lesser than thee

ever had one of those days that could've started out better, but you've got the rest of the day to make up for it and all that keeps happening are little events that add to the pile of distate for life in its current state? i did today.

so it started off with me waking up late - but that happens a lot because no matter how hard i try, the momentum of life doesn't slow until at least midnight most nights. as i roll over and realize even though i told myself that i would be out of bed by 7:00 today, i some how managed to convince myself that just another snooze will fit into my schedule. an hour and a half later i realize i have a meeting at ten and i still need to shower, get ready and take the T to work. luckily, i got there by 10. one of the few good things of my day.

then the meeting happened... and i sink lower and lower into the feeling that i am not appreciated. i have been busting my butt getting my workload done and keeping the customers happy and for what? i am not even asked what i think about what the replacement for my sidekick (the only one at the site who truly knows what i do there) should be responsible for and what skill sets they should possess. ahh, the life of a consultant. maybe i take this part too seriously, but for some reason all this time, even though i am not one of them, i have still felt a comfort and family-like belonging in the group. today was the first time in 2.5 years that i felt like i was so much less than the rest and underappreciated.

the rest of the day went as followed:

highlight: got a free lunch on behalf of a new hire in the group

downer: have a sunburn so bad that it hurts to NOT move, nevermind move (not my fault i thought a little fake vitamin D would do me some good - i was translucent for crying out loud! also not my fault that the fellow who set the timer on the tanning booth doesn't take into consideraton the things i told him (fair skin, burn easily, and i freckle darn it!).

highlight: moved my car for the 1st time in a week - and it drove :) i even managed to get parking in Boston! that in itself deserves a hellz yeah.

downer: i have literally about $6 to my name for the week and have virtually no comida en mi casa. comprende? starving.

downer: lots of things broke at work today so i spent most of the day figuring out the applications (i didn't build em) and fixing the problems. translation - i didn't get anything i wanted to get done today - leaving me with a feeling of extreme unaccomplishment.

so all in all - bad day in my opinion. hopefully tomorrow is better.
