novocaine and ice cream cake

ever had a dentist drill in your mouth without administering a dose of novocaine? as of this morning, i have. i'm not going to lie though, i had a white-knuckled death grip on the yellow leather recliner just anticipating the pain that he could possibly strike. and pain he did create!! that's when the novocaine came into play. in fact, he didn't even mess around when he had to do a filling on the other side of my mouth. he just went ahead and numbed that one up to.

the sad part? when i got back to work (feeling like my face was swollen, hopelessly checking my cheeks for drool), i got there just in time for a ice cream cake and thai food. i could barely feel my tongue so i knew eating would only end with some type of tragedy. after about an hour, i managed to eat a slice of ice cream cake very slowly, so all was not lost.
