precious moments

ever have one of those moments when you are one of two people casually strolling down the sidewalk towards each other, as you get closer, your eyes meet, you smile at each other and keep moving in opposite directions... THEN, just like in the movies, you both turn back and look at each other at the same time?

i had a moment like this tonight. it was really special... except that it wasn't how you'd expect it to be. first off, as we've discussed before, i don't generally make eye contact with random people on the street. call it a boston thing, call it a snotty kind of thing, whatever... it's just the way i am. i'm working on it. keeping that in mind, know that there was a good reason for my eye contact with the oncoming stranger. he had a dog with him. not just any dog though, it was my absolute favorite kind of dog ever. there pretty rare, and most people think they are ugly, but i love them and that is all that matters. seeing the dog made me light up and i felt i needed to express my love for the dog to its owner. hence the eye contact and uncharacteristic smile.

after the dog owner passed, i felt i needed another look at the happy little dog in tow. i turned around to see him and noticed that the owner was checking out the view of my rearend. nice. i'm sure he thought i was checking him out. hehehe... oh well. maybe it'll boost his self confidence a little for a bit. i'm all about making other people feel good. :)
