what a way to start the day

first off, i woke up this morning after having a nightmare. a nightmare! i am not 10 anymore! it was pretty dumb anyways. i know it was. it's just that for the rest of the day, it is hard to shake the feeling you had when you first awoke. even if you know that things are ok and there isn't anything wrong. why couldn't i have dreamt about hugh jackman or something? :)

so to brighten the day for a couple of friends at work, i decided to stop at starbucks and grab them some coffee. i carefully place the ginormous cups of steaming coffee into a tray and then position the tray sturdily on the floor of the car. i have done this many times. i am what some would consider a coffee transporting expert. i even put precautionary napkins between the coffees for those few inevitable drops that are sure to fly out of the cup mid-trip. it seems i could not have planned for the event that happened next though. here i am, traveling across the mass ave bridge to work, when a pedestrian decides to walk out in front of the car. i have to stop short! splash! the passenger side of my car has become a sea of coffee and cups on the floor. in a panic, i quickly pick the cups up and attempt to save what is left of the coffee in the cups. struggling to continue to drive to work, i have to stop attending to the mess and focus on getting to work. i call Ry, who was one of my absolute saviors this morning, and ask him to meet me in the parking lot with lots of napkins. he agrees without asking what the napkins were for. i pull into the lot and see Ry and Mike waiting for me with handfuls of paper towels. they helped me clean the car out (even went so far as washing the floor mat out in the sink an maneuvering a mat-drying contraption). i love these boys. i cannot thank them enough for saving the day.
