frowns & smiles

frown: work-life has been tough the last few weeks. lots of dreadful meetings that go on and on. rehashing the same topics of discussion (which language should we code in in the future? what about our architecture? what objects need to be represented if we completely recode the portal? should we use a portal technology or do it ourselves? how will we integrate the portal with a new document management system? will we still need to keep the old doc management system?) trying to get a co-worker to see the light on what already exists and what i've been doing for the past 3 years (8,000 ColdFusion files - with the help of J Nice of course) thrilling, no? ;)

smile: lucky for me, i actually enjoy all this techno-babble.

frown: the only thing is a girl can only take so much underappreciation before she has to move on, if you know what i mean. that coupled with being grossly underpaid is a burden i am getting a little tired of carrying around on my shoulders. sorry - had to vent a little there. i feel a little better now.

big smile: to be honest, i have had some amazing times these past few weeks and those times are what is getting me through the stress of work. i've been to the beach, had dinner with friends, had a couple of friends stay with me, and i've been spending a little more time with someone who always makes me laugh. that has been very good. there are certain moments that keep playing over in my mind and i find myself just smiling or giggling. i'd share these moments that keep me sane with you, but they are my moments. if i share them, they won't be as special as they are to me right now.

ok. ending on a 'that-was-so-cheesy-it-could've-been-a-hallmark-moment' note, i'd like to say happy thursday. that is all. :) wait... that just reminded me of the family guy episode 'petarded'... (if you aren't watching this season, you are petarded! watch it!)... peter walks into the fast food place and gets on the speaker and says "testicles.<insert dramatic pause> that is all". love that show.
